MATERIALS NEEDED:
Playdough
Cookie Cutters (ABC preferrable)
Popsicle sticks, small
Plastic knife for cutting letters out
Colored squared pieces of paper (same colors as playdough) for matching ~ you can also use the square foam colored sheets
WAYS TO TEACH:
  • Use popsicle sticks in the playdough to make the letters in your child's name or alphabet
  • Have them repeat the letter names after you.
  • Have them build the letters themselves using popsicle sticks.
  • Use ABC cookie cutters to make playdough letter shapes.
  • Roll same colored playdough into balls of different sizes.  Teach big and small.
  • Have child sort/match playdough balls on same colored paper as playdough.
  • Teach the letter "O" by making the playdough into balls and sticking on popsicle sticks to use as "O-sicles"
  • ​With the plastic knife, cut the ABC letters or letters in your child's name in the playdough, have your child repeat you.  For older children, have them say the sound the letter makes too.
  • Lay out all of the materials listed above.  Do and say nothing! Let your child be creative, explore, and TEACH YOU!
